Hello! I'm a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and I primarily work in substance abuse treatment with clients who also experience mental disorders. Such disorders include depression, anxiety, insomnia, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, and PTSD to name a few. I enjoy collaborating with my clients to battle these challenges to improve their mental disorders to maximize their purpose and quality of life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect an evaluation of not just what symptoms of mental disorders and various treatment modalities that are appropriate for the severity of symptoms, client safety, and urgency. Although symptoms of potential mental disorders are important, getting to know you as an individual is also important to build a healthy therapeutic relationship.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel like my greatest strengths are listening to clients, and obtaining client input in their treatment plan. I am also aware that collaborating with other members of the mental health team is vital to successful outcomes for clients.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy helping clients who are transparent and not afraid to openly share their struggles and challenges. I understand mental illness remains a stigma that is becoming increasingly acceptable. I want clients to understand that mental illness does not define who you are, it's a component of how you can become the best version of yourself with collaborative treatment.

My treatment methods

Supportive

I use supportive therapy in my practice daily to let the client know that I am here to support their challenges. I have here to support them as an individual separate from their disorders.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

Insomnia is a chronic challenge for the clients I evaluate in my practice. I prefer to approach insomnia with what daily practices are occurring before bedtime. Diet, caffeine intake, sugar consumption, electronic usage, and exercise are part of our daily lives but must be consumed appropriately before bedtime to optimize sleep.
