I'm always asked, "What made you want to become a therapist?" The answer is simple: I truly enjoy helping others. You see, I understand life's challenges, as I, too, have faced difficulties over the years, and my journey has not always been easy. I utilized therapy as a tool for support and as a way to move forward. I offer support by walking beside you on your journey to become the person you want to be. As a therapist, I am passionate about helping individuals, including children, teens, and adults, navigate life's challenges by providing a compassionate and safe space to explore their thoughts and emotions. I received a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. I have worked in the mental health and child welfare field for over 20 years. In my free time, you will find me enjoying the outdoors, reading and spending time with my energetic and adorable miniature schnauzer.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our initial sessions, we will establish a trusting relationship where you feel safe and heard. Then, we will delve deeply into the issues at hand and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you get your life back. Most of my clients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first month and sustained improvement thereafter. My services are online, so you can get the help you want from the comfort of your own home.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

To my counseling practice, I bring an understanding and share the feelings of my clients, fostering a sense of safety and trust. I establish a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients, creating a safe and supportive environment where they feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. I offer empathy, active listening, effective communication, problem-solving skills, and building rapport and trust with clients. It is important to me to demonstrate cultural competence and adapt to diverse client needs. I also bring a warm smile, a sense of humor and a humble spirit to my practice.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with young children, teens, adults, and the young at heart who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma-based experiences. Some clients may seek therapy for personal growth, self-discovery, and improving their overall well-being.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I will assess your current situation, including your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and the specific problems you are experiencing. Together, we will identify specific goals for therapy, focusing on areas where you want to see change. You will learn to identify and solve problems effectively, developing a sense of competence and self-efficacy. You may be encouraged to test your beliefs and behaviors in real-life situations, gaining new insights and experiences. I will regularly check in with you to assess your progress and make adjustments to the treatment plan as needed.

Integrative

Integrative therapy is about finding the right combination of therapeutic tools to help you achieve your goals and live a more fulfilling life. Integrative therapy uses a flexible approach by blending techniques from different therapeutic modalities to create personalized treatment plans. The core principle is to tailor the therapy to your unique needs, strengths, and goals rather than adhering to a rigid, one-size-fits-all method. We will begin by thoroughly assessing your history, current concerns, and desired outcomes for therapy. Together, we will collaboratively set goals that are meaningful and achievable. I will work to build a trusting and collaborative relationship with you, fostering a safe space for exploration and growth.

Mind-body approach

A mind-body approach in therapy emphasizes the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit, recognizing that mental and physical health are deeply intertwined. It involves using various techniques to address both mental and physical well-being, such as mindfulness, relaxation, and expressive arts. This approach can be particularly helpful for conditions like stress, anxiety, and chronic pain. You will learn mindfulness, which focuses on the present moment, observing thoughts and feelings without judgment, helping to reduce stress and improve self-awareness. Together, we will determine which techniques would be most beneficial for your specific concerns. I will recommend daily or regular practice of mind-body techniques to reinforce learning and promote lasting benefit and adjust the approach as needed.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-informed therapy involves understanding and acknowledging the impact of trauma on your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It prioritizes creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment where you feel understood and respected. It emphasizes understanding the effects of past traumatic experiences on current behavior and functioning. The core principles include safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment. Trauma-informed care aims to create environments and interactions that are welcoming, respectful, and supportive for individuals who have experienced trauma. We will explore and develop skills and resources to achieve your goals.
