I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and periods of feeling stuck or disconnected from themselves. Many of the people I work with have spent years managing their lives on the outside while struggling internally with self-doubt, avoidance, or a sense that something important is missing. My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in respect for your pace. Therapy with me is a chance to slow things down, understand what’s getting in the way, and begin making changes that feel sustainable rather than forced. I believe meaningful progress happens when insight and practical tools are paired with compassion rather than pressure.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

After we’ve collected the important demographic and background info about what brings you to the session, I’ll explain my approach in greater detail and get to know you better so that we can take that first step in bringing you relief - together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

After two decades of experience, I believe I've honed the ability to create and foster a warm environment in which my clients feel welcomed and safe. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, I've adapted this approach for virtual sessions and after over 5 years of working exclusively in telehealth, I'm confident my clients will get just as much value out of our sessions as they would if we were meeting in-person. I’ve always been fascinated by the mind and how it can help us overcome immensely challenging situations on one hand, and get in the way of us achieving our goals on the other. Helping clients begin to see how much change is possible through small shifts in perspective is my greatest strength.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with clients that come to therapy motivated to get something meaningful out of it. They might feel overwhelmed and that they lack the tools necessary to help them move forward but they know they have an idea of some of their goals and how they hope to feel after we've spent some time working together. They also want to be held accountable and challenged (when applicable). I typically give homework assignments (always simple and nothing my clients can't handle) that help us both start to identify patterns in the ways that my clients might be getting in their own way at times, self-sabotaging, etc and they should be motivated to set aside a few minutes to complete these. If you’re someone who wants both practical strategies and a deeper understanding of yourself, my approach may be a good fit.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I've found that I've helped my clients achieve excellent results by learning to recognize the relationship between their thoughts, feelings and actions and how their negative thinking patterns can sabotage them from reaching their goals. Typically, I employ an approach that centers around teaching you to build a greater awareness of what you tell yourself about the world around you as well as your own personal situation (self-talk) in order to help you learn to challenge your negative thinking. Together, we will identify goals and I’ll ensure that you’re steering the direction of the journey. I may have a lot of training and experience but you’re the expert on yourself.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

By applying a person-centered approach to whomever I'm working with, I'm able to ensure that I create an environment in which my clients feel safe, heard and above all - never judged. I use this nonjudgmental approach to give my clients what Carl Rogers defined as Unconditional Positive Regard with the hope that they can learn to give themselves the same treatment and validation. That being said, because I'm a goal-oriented therapist, I don't hesitate to challenge my clients (when appropriate) once I've been able to establish that foundation of trust and rapport.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I was first trained in DBT while working with teens however in the years since, I've found that some aspects of the 4 skills of DBT (Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation and Interpersonal Skills) have crept into the work I've done with virtually everyone. When applicable, I try to incorporate aspects of the skills in order to help my clients not only be more present but also to understand why they're feeling or thinking a certain way and what steps they can take to regain control and roll with the adversity that life throws at all of us.
