Hello, I'm Sarah. I help young adults and adults with a variety of life problems, ranging from low self-esteem, anxiety disorders, stress, depression, perfectionism, procrastination, parenting issues, adjustment to college, and general life burnout. I have a collaborative and practical approach to therapy and use a variety of techniques. Whether you are experiencing stress, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, depressed, or unable to give yourself a break I am here to provide a space where you can feel heard, validated, and accepted.
During the intake and following initial sessions, we will get to know each other. We will also review provided assessments. I will be asking questions and obtaining some personal information so that I can gain clarity about presenting problems and challenges.
I am a good listener and provide insight. I also have a natural interest/curiosity about people, in terms of what motivates their actions. I would consider myself a "digger", as I am willing and able to peel away layers to get to the heart of the matter. I have found that there is always a great deal happening underneath the surface. Ultimately, I would hope that a prospective client gains new insight and a deeper understanding of themselves from our time together.
Young adults (18 years) and adults. I am comfortable working with individuals who have anxiety disorders, are experiencing stress related problems, adjustments to college or other life events. I also have experience working with individuals struggling with self-esteem, codependent behaviors, and relationship issues.
Sarah Reeves offers therapy covered by Calviva Health (Medi-Cal), Community Health Plan of Imperial Valley (Medi-Cal), Health Net (Medi-Cal) and Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal in California.
I use some CBT techniques that specifically address low self-esteem, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. Some techniques include identifying negative thinking and using different approaches to adjust these thoughts. These techniques include discussion/instructions in sessions, as well as handouts that I provide.
I use a humanistic approach by bringing an authentic and honest presence. I attempt to facilitate a greater depth of self-awareness, through actively listening and offering insight. Through this process, I encourage and assist with gaining deeper meaning and life purpose.
I use some ACT techniques, including confronting avoidance and practicing detachment from thoughts. These techniques are discussed in sessions, and I provide handouts and resources that can be used outside of sessions.
