My name is Alissa Madsen and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have a Master of Social Work from Texas State University. Having lived in Central Texas for 10 years, I’m proud to call it my home. Social work is my second career, but the skills of patience and determination I learned prior to making this transition have been invaluable. I specialize in complex PTSD and religious trauma.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Therapy is a deeply personal relationship and requires a great deal of trust. During the initial session, we will go over your initial paperwork and I will ask you questions about your history and the concerns you have. We will make a plan, together, for how to move forward to improve your quality of life and mental health.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a member of the queer community and a former member of a high-demand religion, I have lived experiences that help me to be empathic, patient and a good listener. My previous experiences have brought me to where I am today, working with clients who have experienced trauma. I'm passionate about helping people and am committed to working hard along with my clients.
