What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions followed by identifying any specific challenges you're facing. I always like to build rapport with my clients from the start and identify clear expectations of the work will be doing together. We will identify short term and long term goals, as well as strengths, weaknesses and values that will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with all ages and populations with different mental health symptoms, behaviors and co-occurring disorders for the past 10 years, I have developed the needed skills and techniques for helping you (a) identify the root cause of the challenges and symptoms you are facing and (b) create a individualized person centered plan that leads to measurable progress and feeling more yourself!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is not a one-size fits all approach. I use an individualized approach to help the client identify specific techniques that will be useful for the client with understanding and changing negative thinking patterns, and identifying any other cognitive distortions. I work collaboratively with the client to understand emotions and behaviors that are being impacted by cognitive distortions, and by also utilizing CBT focused assignments to use in between sessions.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT was developed to help people manage overwhelming emotions, improve relationships, and build a life worth living. I help clients by using DBT to develop the core components needed to help with changing unhealthy behaviors and habits that are impacting daily life, and preventing new skills or habits from being developed. I help the client by providing psychoeducation and interventions on mindfulness, distress tolerance skills, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. With guidance and support of DBT teachings, client will be able to improve emotional regulation, enhanced relationships, and increased coping skills in handling stress and difficult situations.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT focuses on emotions as a guide to understanding underlying relationship dynamics. I help the client recognize and express their feelings in a safe and validating environment. EFT explores attachment needs, such as the need for closeness, security, and comfort, which I help the client identify their vulnerabilities with through the use of techniques and interventions focused on improving their emotional awareness with these needs to help strengthen their relationships. During sessions I work closely with the client to understand the negative cycle of interactions that create distress in the relationship, and utilize specific techniques that involve helping clients communicate their needs effectively and express emotions in a healthier manner.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a goal-oriented approach that focuses on identifying and building solutions rather than dwelling on problems. I help the client identify goals, envision solutions, and create a roadmap for achieving these goals. During session I work with the client to identify strengths, resources and past successes to help with creating solutions to individualized issues and work on amplifying current skills and strengths. Interventions utilized in sessions would involve, scaling and progress monitoring, client-centered approach, homework and action plans, motivational interviewing and celebrating progress.

Family Therapy

I work with families to understand the dynamic of the family relationships, and identify any past or current issues that are impacting the development of the relationship. I work with all family members on identifying effective communication skills, and identify healthy boundaries within the relationship. By using psychoeducation and techniques that focus on conflict resolution, strength-based approaches, and setting goals and monitoring progress. In family therapy I work with all ages and utilize other methods such as CBT, DBT, EFT, Play Therapy, Role Playing and Motivational interviewing.
