Hi There. My name is Annie. I have been in social services for 30 years. In the past 15 years, I have focused on providing group and individual therapy. I have assisted individuals make positive changes. I use a number of therapeutic interventions, primarily Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I also bring less traditional approaches to my work with individuals by incorporating visual arts, music, and movement. As a strong believer in Mindfulness, I encourage this practice to all of my clients in order to maintain peace and balance in their lives. As your therapist, allow me to guide you through the discovering your strengths, supporting you through your daily stressors, or managing past turmoil in your life. I look forward to hearing from you.
At our first session, you're probably as interested in learning about me as I am about you. We will get to know one another and together let us map out a plan to manage your stressors and/or symptoms and plan for a journey to self-improvement and positive change.
On several occasions, colleagues have called me "The Ear". I am a great listener and will use my years of experience and expertise to help you navigate your stressors and issues relevant to your current life situation. I bring a positive vibe to the room and hope to share it with you as well.
In addition to managing day to day stressors, life transitions or sudden changes that can impact your life both negatively and positively. Let's manage the negative emotions and learn to change a "bad day" into a manageable one. Sometimes, this may sound difficult or even impossible. Together we can make change possible, manageable, and maybe fun.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of therapy that looks beyond coping with the world around us; it will help us thrive as well. It is a combination of mindfulness and inner peace and traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Since 2001, I have incorporated DBT in my work with individuals and groups. DBT is based on four principles; Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance, and Emotion Regulation.
