Hi! I’m Dagmar Mirabal, a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist with over 13 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges. My career spans both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, where I’ve had the privilege of supporting people from diverse backgrounds on their journey toward healing and growth. I employ a holistic and trauma-informed approach in my practice. My therapeutic style is informal, compassionate and responsive to each individual needs. My goal is to make you feel comfortable in a safe, non-judgmental space I have created for you. You can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your story.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session with me, you can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your story. We’ll start with introductions and explore what brought you to therapy, focusing on your goals, concerns, and what you hope to achieve through our work together. I’ll take time to explain the therapy process, answer any questions, and discuss confidentiality so you know what to expect moving forward. This session is more about listening and understanding your experiences, rather than diving into problem-solving right away. You can expect me to ask questions about your current challenges, personal history, and any factors that may be impacting your emotional well-being. This helps me gain a holistic understanding of your situation so we can collaboratively create a plan tailored to your needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider, my greatest strengths lie in my ability to create a safe and welcoming space where clients feel genuinely seen and heard. I approach each individual with empathy, compassion, and non-judgment, allowing for authentic connections that foster trust and openness. My clinical expertise is complemented by a deep understanding of trauma and its impact, as well as extensive experience addressing anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions. I have a talent for tailoring evidence-based interventions to meet the unique needs of each client, combining approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and mindfulness practices.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am best positioned to serve clients who are navigating challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, self-esteem issues, and life transitions. I work with individuals across the lifespan, including adolescents, adults, and families, who are seeking a compassionate and non-judgmental space to process their experiences and discover pathways to growth. My approach resonates particularly well with clients who value a collaborative, strengths-based, and culturally sensitive framework. Whether someone is coping with the aftermath of a traumatic event, feeling stuck in patterns of negative thinking, or struggling to manage overwhelming emotions, I am here to provide tailored support that meets their unique needs.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

For the past 12 years, I’ve been using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients work through their anxiety and break free from overwhelming thought patterns. It’s an approach that I’ve seen make a real difference for so many people. Together, we’ll look at how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. By understanding these patterns, we can work on shifting unhelpful thoughts and replacing them with ones that bring more calm and clarity. The goal is to help you feel less anxious, more in control, and better equipped to handle life’s challenges. It’s a process, but one that can lead to lasting, meaningful change.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a powerful, evidence-based approach that I use to help clients work through the impact of trauma. It’s especially effective in addressing those heavy, distressing beliefs that can feel so overwhelming after a traumatic experience. Through TF-CBT, we’ll work together to make sense of those feelings and learn practical skills to manage everyday stress. It’s a process that not only helps clients heal from trauma but also builds resilience for handling life’s challenges. I’ve seen this approach transform the lives of many clients, including those who’ve experienced childhood trauma, and I’m here to guide you through it at a pace that feels right for you.

Interpersonal

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) is all about focusing on your present relationships and the connections in your life, rather than digging too much into the past. It’s a great approach for improving how you interact with others and building stronger, more fulfilling relationships. If you’re feeling isolated or stuck in relationships that aren’t working, IPT can help you understand those patterns and find new ways to connect with the people around you. I’ve seen this approach help clients feel less alone and more supported, and I’d love to work with you to create the kind of relationships that truly enrich your life.

Humanistic

Humanistic therapy is all about helping you reconnect with yourself and your unique strengths. It’s based on the idea that by exploring your individuality, you can find the answers within to solve problems and make meaningful changes in your life. This approach is especially helpful if you’re dealing with depression, anxiety, addiction, relationship challenges, or even just struggling to feel comfortable in your own skin. It’s also great for anyone searching for purpose, meaning, or direction, or who feels held back by low self-esteem. Through humanistic therapy, we’ll focus on your growth, healing, and potential. By looking inward, you can uncover your own wisdom, take empowering steps forward, and move toward a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.

Integrative

Integrative therapy is all about tailoring the process to fit you. It’s a flexible, holistic approach that pulls together techniques from different types of therapy to create a treatment plan that works best for your unique needs and goals. Instead of sticking to just one method, we’ll draw from a variety of approaches to address what’s most important to you, whether that’s managing anxiety, working through trauma, or navigating life’s transitions. It’s a personalized way to help you move forward in a way that feels right for you.
