I am a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I am passionate about providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health services to adolescents and adults. I possess strong clinical skills enhanced by natural ability to build rapport with patients and families. I follow evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition. As a PMHNP, my role is multifaceted, including educator, mental health advocate and therapist. I value interdisciplinary education and inter-professional collaboration for a whole person, patient centered approach to health and healthcare.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Improved Understanding: Clients can expect to gain a deeper understanding of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Educate and teach clients effective coping strategies to manage stress, anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues. Help clients become more self-aware, allowing them to recognize and challenge negative thought patterns or self-destructive behaviors. Enhanced Resilience: Through therapy, clients can develop resilience and learn how to bounce back from setbacks and adversity more effectively.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Assessment and Diagnosis: Perform comprehensive psychiatric assessments to evaluate a patient's mental health status. This includes gathering information about the patient's medical history, psychosocial history, current symptoms, and any previous treatments. Also, I will be using standardized assessment tools and diagnostic criteria to aid in diagnosis. Medication Management: such as antidepressants, mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, and anti-anxiety medications. I will monitor the effectiveness of medications, assess for side effects, and adjust dosages as needed. Crisis Intervention: provide immediate intervention and stabilization for individuals experiencing acute mental health crises, including suicidal or aggressive behaviors. Patient Education: Educating patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication management is a crucial aspect of your role. You would help patients understand their diagnoses, medications, and coping strategies. Collaboration: collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as psychologists, social workers, and primary care providers, to provide holistic care to patients. Interdisciplinary teamwork is essential for comprehensive mental health treatment. Cultural Competency: Sensitivity to cultural and diversity issues is crucial. I will consider cultural backgrounds and beliefs when providing care and treatment recommendations. Legal and Ethical Considerations: adhere to legal and ethical guidelines, including patient confidentiality, informed consent, and reporting obligations when dealing with safety concerns.
