As a dedicated Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) for the past 10+ years, licensed in Connecticut and Georgia, I specialize in providing compassionate and personalized care to my clients. My holistic approach focuses on both the mind and body to promote overall well-being. I work with adolescents and adults, helping them navigate life's challenges and achieve their goals. My expertise includes trauma, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and couples/family therapy, and I am committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all my clients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session with me, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where we will begin to build a trusting and collaborative relationship. We will discuss your current concerns, explore your goals for therapy, and gather some background information to understand your unique situation better. This initial session is an opportunity for you to share your story and for us to start developing a personalized plan to support your mental health and well-being.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider are my compassionate approach, holistic perspective, and dedication to creating a safe and supportive environment for my clients. Having worked with many individuals and couples for the past 10+ years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a cornerstone of my therapeutic approach. Over the years, I have found it to be highly effective in addressing a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders. My experience with CBT has shown me that it empowers clients by helping them understand the intricate link between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In my practice, I use CBT to guide clients through the process of identifying and challenging negative thought patterns. We work together to develop healthier, more constructive ways of thinking. This often involves techniques such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral experiments, and mindfulness practices. By doing so, clients can gain better control over their emotional responses and make positive changes in their behavior. CBT is a collaborative and goal-oriented therapy, and I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each client. Whether it's through individual sessions or group therapy, my goal is to provide clients with practical tools and strategies that they can use in their daily lives to improve their mental well-being.

EMDR

I have experience with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in a telehealth setting, which has allowed me to reach and support clients who may not have access to in-person therapy. Through my training and practice, I have seen the profound impact of EMDR on clients dealing with trauma, anxiety, and PTSD, even when conducted remotely. EMDR telehealth involves using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, to help clients process and integrate traumatic memories, reducing their emotional charge and enabling healthier coping mechanisms. How I Use EMDR Telehealth in My Practice: In my practice, I incorporate EMDR telehealth to help clients reprocess traumatic memories in a safe and controlled virtual environment. During sessions, I guide clients through a series of eye movements while they recall distressing events. This process helps to desensitize the emotional impact of these memories and reframe negative beliefs associated with them. By doing so, clients can achieve significant relief from symptoms and develop a more adaptive perspective on their experiences. The telehealth format ensures that clients can receive this effective treatment from the comfort of their own homes, making therapy more accessible and convenient.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have extensive experience with Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), a highly effective treatment approach for individuals who have experienced trauma. Through my training and practice, I have seen the transformative impact of TF-CBT on clients dealing with trauma-related symptoms. This evidence-based therapy combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with trauma-sensitive interventions to help clients process and overcome traumatic experiences. How I Use Trauma-Focused CBT in My Practice: In my practice, I incorporate TF-CBT to help clients address and manage the effects of trauma. During sessions, I work with clients to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, develop coping strategies, and gradually process traumatic memories in a safe and supportive environment. By integrating cognitive restructuring, exposure techniques, and relaxation skills, I help clients reduce trauma-related distress and build resilience. This approach not only alleviates symptoms but also empowers clients to regain control over their lives and foster a sense of healing and recovery.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-informed care is an approach that recognizes and responds to the impact of trauma on individuals. Through my training and practice, I have seen how this method can create a safe and supportive environment for clients who have experienced trauma. Trauma-informed care involves understanding the prevalence and effects of trauma, recognizing the signs and symptoms, and integrating this knowledge into all aspects of treatment. How I Use Trauma-Informed Care in My Practice: In my practice, I incorporate Trauma-Informed Care to ensure that clients feel safe, respected, and empowered. I focus on building trust and creating a therapeutic environment that acknowledges the impact of trauma. This involves being sensitive to potential triggers, avoiding re-traumatization, and fostering a sense of control and autonomy for clients. Using this approach, I help clients feel understood and supported, which is crucial for their healing and recovery process.

Couples Counseling

In my practice, I utilize couples counseling to help partners navigate their relationship challenges and enhance their emotional connection. My approach fosters open communication, mutual understanding, and conflict resolution. I draw on evidence-based techniques to guide couples through their unique issues, whether they involve communication breakdowns, trust issues, or differing life goals. I create a safe and supportive environment where both partners can express their feelings and perspectives without judgment. I help couples develop healthier interaction patterns and strengthen their bond by facilitating honest dialogue and providing practical tools. My goal is to empower couples to build a resilient and fulfilling relationship.
