Hello! Thank you for stopping by. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Indiana. I have over 28 years of clinical experience and feel just as passionate about helping others today as I did when I first started out. For me, the best part of being a therapist has been working with individuals, children/teens, couples, and families who have shared their life stories, their emotional pain, and their triumphs with me. I have witnessed so much courage, vulnerability, resilience, and transformation.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, I explain what you can expect out of therapy, especially if it is your first time in therapy. Also, if this is the case, way to go! I know it can be a painstaking process and it takes guts to walk into an office or log onto a computer and talk to a complete stranger. If you've been to therapy, you know the drill. We get to know each other, talk about what brings you to therapy, what you want out of therapy, and define what goals you want to work on.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My style as a therapist is professional while being down to earth and genuine. My clients have shared that they enjoy my sense of humor and openness. Due to my experience, I bring a breadth of knowledge and an array of therapeutic skills and techniques.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I am currently working towards being a Certified Trauma Professional which encompasses many different trauma interventions such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and Cognitive Behavioral.

Attachment-based

I believe our attachments formed from an early age set the stage for our relationships.

Grief Therapy

If you have experienced the death of a loved one, you know it can cause unbearable pain. In addition to the death of a loved one, grief also encompasses other types of losses. Whether it is a divorce, empty nest, or a major life transition, loss is an inevitable human experience. My training and experience have equipped me with many tools to assist my clients in walking through their grief. More importantly, compassion, psychoeducation, my own personal experience with grief, and professionalism are the foundation of how I utilize grief therapy in my practice.

Group Therapy

I have been facilitating groups the entirety of my career. Some of the most transformation and healing experiences I have been witnessed to have occurred in group therapy. Some of the groups I have facilitated include: family members impacted by addiction, children impact by a parents/caregiver's addiction, domestic violence, women's issues, grief, trauma, adult children of alcoholics, substance abuse recovery, relapse prevention, sexual assault survivors, and cognitive restructuring.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is effective in helping us challenge our limiting and negative beliefs we have about ourselves and others. In understanding our thoughts and feelings, we can change how we think and therefore change our behavior. I have utilized this treatment method in helping my clients manage: anxiety, depression, unhealthy relationships, and many other struggles that often come from our negative thoughts.
