Hello! My name is Ryan Humphries, and I am a full time Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) here in Georgia. I got my Masters in Counseling (MACN) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and have been practicing therapy here in Georgia for about 9 years. I work with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance abuse issues (remember, to participate in virtual therapy, I need you to be at least 6 months clean, first.), as well as other life issues. I also work with couples, and with other relationship concerns to help clients improve relationships, and to become the best version of themselves. Together we will work on burnout, empathy, strengths, and use a positive psychotherapy modality to improve these and other aspects of yourself to feel better in general.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with anxiety, addictions, and couples counseling for the past 9 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress, while learning new coping skills, ways to improve your happiness, and learn new ways to support yourself, everyday.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with veterans, and first responders, and anyone struggling with staying sober, or working to reduce your anxiety and worries. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality, they often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about their careers, lives, and relationships.

My treatment methods

Positive Psychology

Positive psychotherapy isn't just about fixing what's wrong; it's about uncovering your unique strengths and using them to build a happier, more fulfilling life. Instead of dwelling on problems, positive psychotherapy empowers you to cultivate joy, meaning, and resilience, leading to lasting well-being. Together we can build a life filled with purpose, connection, and authentic happiness.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based therapies gently guide you to become more present, allowing you to observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment, leading to greater emotional freedom. Through mindful practices, these interventions empower you to develop a deeper awareness of your inner world, creating space for healing and lasting change. Learn to accept your thoughts and feelings, rather than struggling against them – mindfulness-based therapies offer tools to cultivate self-compassion and inner peace.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT helps you understand the powerful connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions, giving you the tools to break free from negative cycles and create positive change. Feeling stuck? CBT offers practical strategies to identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, empowering you to solve problems and improve your mood. Take control of your thoughts and feelings – CBT equips you with the skills to challenge negative thinking and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
