My name is Gabriela Merida but I go by Gabby and I specialize in working with women and teens struggling with relationship, attachment, trauma and/ or abandonment issues. My purpose is to formulate a foundation for women and teens to have a safe space to heal, grow and thrive. It is not everyday that you will find a space where you feel heard and understood and I know that which is why I decided to become a therapist. I'm here for you.
I come into sessions with both knowledge and personal experience that makes up more alike rather than different. My approach stems from Attachment theory and it helps us understand why we do the things that we do. I'm here to help you navigate. In our sessions, you will find a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Together, we will work on developing effective coping strategies, improving self-esteem, and building healthier relationship dynamics. I utilize evidence-based practices, including (CBT), Attachment therapy, BRAINSPOTTING and more.
My personality has given me the unique skill to be able to genuinely connect. My personal experience growing up allows me to relate to more than the average person. I listen to understand. I show up to support you every step of the way.
Brainspotting offers a non-verbal pathway to process and release deeply held trauma or emotional pain that is often difficult to access through traditional talk therapy. It targets the body and mind's natural ability to heal by identifying "brainspots"—specific eye positions that correspond with emotional and psychological blockages. This allows clients to work directly with their brain's stored memories and emotions.
By teaching clients to recognize and reframe distorted thinking, CBT empowers them to take an active role in their healing, promoting lasting change even after therapy ends.
Feminist therapy is a unique and empowering approach to therapy that is rooted in the principles of feminism, emphasizing social justice, equality, and the acknowledgment of gender and power dynamics in the therapeutic process. I tailor reach session according to the person.
I've used Attachment-based therapy to help clients develop a more secure attachment style, whether they are struggling with anxious, avoidant, or disorganized attachment patterns. This can help improve emotional regulation, self-esteem, and interpersonal relationships.
