Have you struggled to connect with a counselor who really understands you? Feel like you haven't been able to find that "right fit" with a therapist? I would love to meet you! I love to help those who haven't had previous success in finding a counselor as we address whatever struggles might be bringing you into counseling. Together we can work to tackle life transitions, relationship stressors, anxiety, panic symptoms, difficulty accomplishing tasks, staying motivated, or anything else that you might need support with. I help those who are ready to see change in their minds and in their lives, but are just struggling to know how to get there. I work from a strength-based, cognitive behavioral approach wherein we explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences as they impact you today. I would love the opportunity to help you learn more about yourself, and help you to see self-growth in the process. Everyone deserves a space to be authentically themselves and achieve the growth they want to see in themselves. Why don't we get started?

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Throughout our work together, our shared mission is to achieve your goals that bring you to counseling. Starting in the first session, we will spend time discussing where you want to be at the end of counseling: how do you want things to look in your life? How do you want to feel? How do you want your thoughts to sound? As we work to discover and move toward your goals, we will spend sessions reflecting on barriers and challenges to doing so. I encourage at-home activities to implement outside of session that propel your growth and improvement in the areas most important to you. As we evaluate ending counseling, we will revisit and highlight your goals, and discuss what lifelong growth looks like for you, in and out of therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strengths as a counselor center around my ability to understand and interpret what someone is trying to communicate, especially when they are struggling to do so. I enjoy providing insights and suggesting new connections between different topics or themes a client has discussed. I have been told by clients that I provide a very comfortable atmosphere, I am attentive and focused during sessions, and ask good, thought-provoking questions.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I utilize ACT in sessions to facilitate conversation about acceptance of unpleasant thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Additionally, ACT allows us to identify values and ways to pursue them instead of forms of avoidance.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT in sessions to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, and explore core beliefs often developed in childhood.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I utilize SFBT in sessions to focus on solutions rather than problems, and move towards achieving goals in a tangible, manageable, and realistic way.

Strength-Based

I utilize a strength-based perspective across all sessions to bolster clients' strengths and help to reframe perceived weaknesses as strengths.

Gottman method

I utilize the Gottman method within couple's counseling to repair from marital issues such as infidelity and addiction, as well as issues with conflict management and improving overall communication and connection.
