My name is Colleen McKay, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I have been working in the field since 2011. I have primarily worked with children and families (parents) through providing both behavioral training, individual and family therapy, as well as the foster care system. I enjoy working with parents, couples and individuals experiencing anxiety, depression and difficulty through various life transitions. I believe myself to be an active listener who offers empathy and non-judgmental support to all my clients. I believe that life has many challenges and we deserve to have support and guidance as we try to do our best to navigate.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will get to know each other by creating a space in which you feel comfortable to show up as your true self. Together, we will begin to discuss some areas that are causing you pain, and make a plan on how we will work together moving forward.

My greatest strengths as a clinician would be my ability to create a space in which others feel safe, heard and validated.

Attachment-based

We all have attachment needs that need to be met in order to feel safe, cared for and accepted. In our work together, we will bring light to the attachment wounds you have experienced to help you heal and connect more deeply in the future.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Through the CBT approach, we will examine how your thought patterns affect your behaviors that have been preventing your personal growth.

Couples Counseling

All relationships take work. Together, we will set realistic expectations and focus on how we can improve your relationship. We will do this by identifying any communication barriers and focus on each partners' attachment needs.
