My name is Marc Genson and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and I have been a counselor for over 15 years. Counseling is a passion of mine as this alllows a client to really learn about themselves and who they are and want to become. You are taking a brave step to seek help and I am happy to help you along your journey. We all have something we want to change and I am here to help with that. We all have areas in our lives that we can grow in and learn from and I am here to help you in those areas. No one is perfect but we often tell ourselves we have to be and that's not fair to us. Sometimes our thinking causes us to not be our best self and we make mistakes. I am here to help correct these mistakes moving forward through improved cognition, awareness and decision making via CBT, ACT and DBT techniques. I know how important my job is and I want my clients to know I will be there to listen, support and guide but not tell them how to live their lives. I welcome the chance to help a new client become the best version of themselves.
At our first session, you will be heard and listened to so we can figure out the next step for you. We will work to formulate a plan that fits your needs and make the therapeutic process what you hope it can be. I am here to advise, listen and support but without judgement or negative response.
I feel my biggest strengths are understanding and listening to a client's needs. I want a client to know I am here to help you and listen to but never tell you what to do or how to feel. I also believe that my strengths are working to find long term solutions to problems and not short term fixes that are not sustainable. The therapeutic process takes time to find what works for you and I'm here to help with that along the way.
I believe the client who fits best with me is someone who is navigating a challenging period in their life such as: navigating a new job, transition from a relationship ending, dealing with family issues and is learning how to proceed when there are unknowns and finds themselves needing structure, supoort and guidance from someone who is equally interested in their best outcome as well. I want to ensure that I provide the right guidance, direction and focus for my client to feel they have a clear and stable focus to be able to move forward in their lives effectively.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitve Behavioral Therapy to understand the problems and work to create the best solutions for you by aiding a client in restructuring their thinking process which leads to improved behaviors and strategies that can be implemented every day for a better quality of life.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I work with clients on understanding and identifying how to overcome their own struggles and accept what can be a positive outcome for them to embrace.
