Practiced behaviors become influential patterns that transcend generations. Unfortunately, abusive cycles committed by our caregivers or those we hold dear to our hearts manifest into routine, emotional pain, which can feel impossible to break. We find ourselves normalizing abuse to maintain connections to our abusers even when it hurts.  Being raised in unhealthy environments shifts our perceptions. Over time, we develop coping and protective mechanisms to avoid reopening emotional wounds. These learned unhealthy practices dictate our interactions with others.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our initial session consists of introductions and an explanation of the therapeutic process you will embark on at Therapy Over Easy. Next, we will cover confidentiality, cancellation policies, and my responsibility as a mandated reporter. After this, a clinical assessment will be conducted to explore your challenges and coping style. Finally, we will discuss your goal(s) and the next steps for developing your treatment plan.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

The key to mental freedom is seeing beyond your current circumstances to create a life where you can thrive and live in harmony with yourself. I take pride in the many success stories of clients who have reclaimed their lives by removing the barriers of trauma to uncover the power of creative healing. A simple investment in yourself guarantees a generous return. Allow me to match your effort.

My treatment methods

Integrative

Integrative therapy is a holistic approach to therapy that combines ideas and techniques based on the client's unique needs. This approach is the foundation of my work. Clients have the best outcomes when their counselor brings a toolkit to help resolve challenges instead of a tool.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic Therapy strives to help people understand the pervasive influences of their past or unconscious motivations behind difficult feelings and behaviors.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a style of therapy that helps clients relieve symptoms by replacing rigid ways of living and thinking with cognitive flexibility (e.g., the ability to self-reflect, look at circumstances differently, acknowledge feelings in the moment without avoidance). Once this is accomplished, clients fully accept themselves and commit to making necessary changes in their behavior, leading to freedom and peace.

Narrative

Narrative Therapy allows clients to see themselves apart from their problems. This approach uses many strategies to challenge learned behaviors and destructive ways of thinking and being, which leads to empowerment. Clients walk away with the ability to control their own stories. Narrative Therapy also incorporates the practice of externalizing feelings. Internalizing leads to unhealthy symptoms such as anxiety and depression.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is a style of counseling used to help patients resolve ambivalent feelings and make positive changes in their lives. When clients feel stuck and incapable of making life-changing decisions, this approach empowers them to make informed choices that ultimately decrease symptoms.
