Hello! Thank you for visiting! I am a dual Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric-Mental Health and Adult/Geriatric Practice. I earned my master’s degree with Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner specialty at California State University of Long Beach and post graduate Psychiatric-Mental Health Specialty at Johns Hopkins University. My professional experience encompasses General Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Internal Medicine. As a Psychiatry provider, I firmly resolve to listen, show empathy, compassion and provide tailored care to enhance the best possible psychiatric health functioning of my patients. I aim to do this by utilizing evidence-based psychotherapeutic modalities, psychotherapy, and psychotropic medication management.
In some ways, your first psychiatry appointment will differ from your return visits. I will need to get to know you by taking a complete medical and psychological history. In addition to any presenting symptoms, I will evaluate situational factors such as genetics and relationship dynamics. We will meet for an initial period during which I will get to know you, you can get a sense of my style, discuss your history, and talk about what brings you into therapy. After I have gathered enough information to make a recommendation for you, we will discuss my impressions and how we might work together.
My career has taken me on an extensive journey through the healthcare system in several areas of medical practice. In both inpatient and outpatient settings. I have managed care for adults with multiple chronic diseases and mental health issues. I am passionate about improving mental health and empowering each individual to maximize their own potential.
Do you feel stressed, worried, or stuck by a particular issue or in general? Do you find it difficult to manage stress or struggle with depression & anxiety? Does it affect your work or relationships? Have you had other treatments that have left you feeling that some underlying issue has not been fully addressed? It takes a lot of courage to ask for help. Whatever your circumstances may be and wherever you are in your journey, I would be honored to walk with you and find solutions to help ease your suffering and live life with more joy, spontaneity, and well-being. I look forward to hearing from you.
CBT can help a client challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We will use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We will then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
Trauma-informed care shifts the focus from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?” Trauma-informed care acknowledges that understanding a patient’s life experiences is key to potentially improving engagement and outcomes.
