My name is Kevin Torchen and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my Masters degree from USC. I bring warmth, care, compassion and support to the work with my clients as we identify what the next step is for them in their personal journey and move forward on that path.
During the first session, clients will be asked to provide information that will help guide a future treatment plan. Clients should be starting to assess for the potential quality of the therapeutic relationship and the potential for future collaboration toward treatment goals.
My greatest strengths are my values and my ability to have them come out in the therapy room. I am responsible, kind, composed, curious, and understanding. I have been lucky to have worked around gifted colleagues who have supplemented my own personal work toward a better overall understanding of people and how to thrive in my work helping others.
ACT can be a great foundational approach for my clients to identify what a life of meaning and purpose looks like and any obstacles that may be getting in the way of reaching this way of being.
I have used EMDR in both my personal life and professional life with clients to process distressing experiences and related negative belief systems. The goal is a more adaptive and workable perspective. EMDR has the capacity to heal old wounds and create resiliency for future challenges.
CBT is a great tool for clients to begin to understand the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings and behaviors. We often have mechanisms working beyond our everyday awareness and CBT has the capacity to create insight and change to better one's overall wellness.
IFS is a wonderful approach that fosters self-compassion and deeper understanding of the interconnected systems of one's psyche. IFS can be used in a variety of ways but I find it particularly helpful to alleviate one's inner critic, build self-esteem, establish and strengthen one's identity, increase interpersonal connection and access one's capacity to change unhelpful patterns.
