I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California with over 20 years of experience in social services and more than 13 years of clinical practice. I work with adolescents, adults, and families navigating trauma, chronic stress, and significant life transitions. Much of my work focuses on supporting individuals during periods of change, such as shifts in relationships, family dynamics, identity, caregiving roles, or life circumstances. These experiences can be emotionally complex and may contribute to symptoms of anxiety or depression, even when the transition itself is anticipated or positive. My approach is grounded, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I aim to create a space where clients feel understood, respected, and supported as they work toward meaningful and sustainable change.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session focuses on understanding what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from it. We will review relevant background information, current stressors, and your personal history at a pace that feels manageable. This may include brief questionnaires to help clarify symptoms and patterns that are impacting your daily life. Together, we will begin identifying goals for therapy and determine an approach that aligns with your needs, values, and circumstances. Treatment is collaborative, and goals may evolve as we gain clarity over time.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Clients often describe my style as calm, attentive, and supportive. I place a strong emphasis on listening carefully, asking thoughtful questions, and creating a space where you can speak openly without fear of judgment. I approach therapy with empathy and respect, while also helping clients gently examine patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that may no longer be serving them. My role is to support you in gaining clarity, building effective skills, and making choices that align with your goals and values.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I specialize in working with individuals during major life transitions. Even positive changes in life come with unexpected stressors, and is often a time where a person may need additional support. My goal is to help you decrease negative symptoms that are impacting your day-to-day life and relationships.
Eclectic
I utilize a variety of treatment modalities, however each therapy experience is unique. The treatment modality will be tailored to each individual, to focus on your personal circumstances and needs. I will always focus on being person-centered and trauma informed. We will then decide together on what type of treatment modality will benefit you as an individual.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is utilized to address negative thought patterns and beliefs. With the use of CBT principles and practice, we can help not only identify, but modify and change our core beliefs. The identification and practice of coping skills you can use in your daily life will also be a focus of this treatment.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing can be used to help us determine your true reason and desire for change. This can help strengthen your commitment to change in your life.
