I have helped clients in various capacities since 1995 (Licensed as a counselor in 2004) and I have learned people know themselves better than they think they do. YOU have in you what it takes to be amazing. I am here to help you make it happen. Everyone has a gift and a talent, no matter what their past has been. We can learn to move forward and grow. Sometimes you just need a little help, and I am here to walk alongside you in that process. I became a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of Ohio in 2004, and a Supervising Counselor in 2007. In addition, I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), and have been licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Arizona since 2023. I have dedicated my career to working with individuals with anxiety, depression, chronic illness, disabilities, caregivers, victims and survivors of domestic violence, and individuals who are experiencing relationship issues. I also have years of experience working with individuals in crisis. I believe you can work through past difficulties and come out stronger on the other side. I enjoy helping people create their best lives, by working with individuals, couples, and families. I am here to assist you in your journey. My goal is to help you decide what you would like to change, even if it is just to do ONE thing differently. Because even ONE thing can make a huge impact on your life. My style is supportive and caring. I also can be quite blunt at times, when gentle confrontation is needed, or when a client is feeling stuck and needs to "push through" something they are struggling with.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, I like to start by welcoming the client and thanking them for taking the step to begin therapy. I usually ask if they’ve had any experience with online therapy before, just to get a sense of their comfort level. I also take a few minutes to go over the limits of confidentiality so they know what to expect and feel safe sharing. Then, I invite them to tell me what brought them to therapy and what made them decide that now was the right time to start. My goal is to really listen and understand their story while reassuring them that this is a safe and supportive space. Before wrapping up, I always check in to see how they’re feeling about our session and whether they’re comfortable meeting with me again.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a counselor, I try to be as authentic as possible — I really am who I am. My clients often tell me that they find this refreshing and unique. I listen closely and without judgment, because I want them to feel truly heard and accepted. I’m also pretty straightforward; I don’t tend to sugarcoat things. I believe clients deserve honesty, especially when it comes from a place of care and respect. I often encourage them to “stretch” a little and try new things, even when it feels uncomfortable, but I make sure they know I’ll be there to support them through it. Sometimes things don’t work out the way we hoped, and that’s okay — we reflect, regroup, and try again. I’ve learned that real change is tough for everyone, and part of growth is giving ourselves permission to keep trying.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and patterns of overthinking. I have a particular passion for supporting mothers who feel overwhelmed by the demands of daily life, helping them find balance and manage their responsibilities more effectively. I also enjoy working with caregivers and individuals coping with chronic illness who may be struggling to adapt or find healthy ways to cope. In my work, I help clients “recenter” and refocus on what truly matters to them — exploring questions such as: How can I live my best life? How can I take better care of myself? Together, we often look at the origins of their thoughts and beliefs, including early childhood messages that may still influence them today. Through this process, clients learn to “rewrite” those internal narratives, fostering greater self-compassion, resilience, and a more fulfilling, balanced life.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

I use the strength-based approach to help people learn they already have in them what it takes to feel better. We just have to find it. Everyone has internal strengths and resources, and we need to learn how to focus on the internal strengths, rather than focusing on weaknesses (such as by overthinking, anxiety, etc). By doing this, we can learn to improve confidence, self-efficacy, and achieve greater success.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use a non-directive approach, focusing on the client, and the client's ability to find their own solutions. I am right with the client, walking along the path to the solutions; however, I realize the client is the expert in their life. We are on a journey of discovery together so we can find the solutions and help the client reach their full potential. You are safe with me in the counseling environment, and this allows you to explore. This allows for a self-healing process.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In order to make changes, we talk about current situations and we can talk about troublesome scenarios. This allows us to identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. By changing negative thought patterns and behaviors, the client can achieve improved positive mental and emotional health. We identify self-help strategies that will help the client long after therapy has ended. We are goal-oriented. We work on how to reduce the overwhelming feelings that usually are what brings people to therapy in the first place.
