Hi, my name is Terese and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker! I am a retired Air Force veteran who developed a passion for counseling while helping military members navigate life’s challenges and begin to heal from the wounds of combat trauma. Since retiring, I've spent 8 years working with persons in crisis. Healing through my own life challenges was the catalyst for purpose. My purpose is to help women overcome adversity, heal and thrive.
At the foundation of my work with clients, I demonstrate care, compassion, connectivity, and shared human experiences. It is important that I get to know you, what concerns you, and work with you to help you figure out the path to healing. Job 14:1 tells us that our lives will be full of trouble. My therapeutic style is faith based, strength based and person-centered. I blend Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed modalities, and mediation skills to help my clients reach their potential. I utilize a wholistic approach, integrating mental wellbeing, physical health, and spiritual connectedness, to create peace and whole wellness. I work with clients who are struggling with the effects of trauma, domestic violence, health crisis, grief and other life issues. With warmth and compassion, I specialize in helping women heal from trauma, domestic violence, and grief. I also have experience in mediation and conflict resolution, where I focus on facilitating unity and respectful collaboration. My wholistic approach integrates mental wellbeing, physical health, and spiritual connectedness, to create peace and wholeness.
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients understand the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I help clients increase their awareness of how their automatic thoughts are connected to core beliefs about themselves, others, and life. Through using client's real-life experiences, I help clients understand the importance of challenging and modifying their thoughts to improve their emotions, behaviors and negative consequences.
I believe in a holistic approach to wellness- incorporating the mental, physical and spiritual parts of self, to heal and thrive. Out of respect and honor for one's belief system, I utilize a non-judgmental and client-centered approach to faith-based therapy. In my professional experience, I find integrating a client's spirituality into the therapeutic process, helps them cope with the issues of life, gives them strength, hope, purpose and motivation to overcome adversity.
