Hey there! I'm Marty, thrilled to welcome you to my profile. If you're ready for a fun and transformative experience with a queer, neurodivergent-friendly therapist to help you get through the S***, I am here for it! I have two master's degrees in psychology. I am a licensed therapist, have served as the Executive Director of multiple behavioral health programs, and have trained dozens of students and associate therapists. (Basically- I know what I'm doing)
You can expect to laugh, cry, and maybe curse, but overall, you will (hopefully) walk away feeling lighter, healthier, and ready to live your life to the fullest.
Many clients have asked after an assessment or session, "So, what's wrong with me?" My answer is this: nothing. Nothing is wrong with you; you are a person worthy of healing and happiness who has probably been through things I can't even imagine. Going through those things was hard, and you learned how to cope. But now those coping skills are getting in the way of living your best life. So let's do something about it. That's my greatest strength, to see people not as a collection of problems, but as complex amazing individuals who have survived.
Marty Hosier offers therapy covered by Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Kern Family Health Care - Medi-Cal, L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
I believe in using a person-centered approach because people aren't disorders. You're not a problem; you're a whole person who has been through experiences (good and bad) who may be struggling with a problem. I'm a certified clinical trainer Person Centered Thinking from The Learning Community of Person-Centered Practices.
I believe DBT skills to be invaluable for any person dealing with big emotions, black and white thinking, or struggling to understand/communicate their needs with others.
EMDR is a great method for reprocessing stuck memories so you can move on from trauma.
