Hello and welcome! Something brought you here today, whether it has been a long time coming or a split decision. I am really happy you decided to seek out support. This is often one the hardest decisions to make, but it can make all of the difference. My name is Brittany and I am a licensed mental health counselor in Florida since 2015. I earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, NY and a Masters Degree in Counselor Education from Florida International University in Miami, FL. I have worked in a variety of settings and with people of all ages. I have experience working with people who have suffered great hardships and significant trauma and those constantly plagued by depression. I have a lot of experience supporting people run down by stress and relentless anxiety. It brings me great joy to see people find the courage within and build up their strength to manifest a life that brings them joy. I believe the most important aspect of counseling is the connection and comfort we feel with our therapist. We all want to feel accepted and understood. I believe it’s very important to be open-minded and non-judgmental when someone shares their experiences with me. I am bi-cultural and bi-lingual. Je parle français! I have learned to identify and value both the commonalities and differences of the human experience across cultures. I highly respect and value different cultural backgrounds and how this can shape our world view, especially for individuals who identify with more than one culture. Each person is an expert in themselves. My job is to support you, help you discover what you may not be seeing, find out why you may be stuck and provide useful tools to promote healing and growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you are facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in the following sessions. the first session is different from other sessions. I may be asking a lot of questions and taking notes because I want to make sure we get a clear picture of your needs so that I can better assist you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

In addition to formal training, what I have found immensely helpful in working with my clients is my cultural diversity. I am bi-cultural and love learning about other cultures. I have been able to see how culture creates a framework that can affect how people experience life and approach conflicts and struggle.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with clients of all ages and at different stages of their lives. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about their path in life. My clients are thoughtful, openminded and want to put in the work to grow and be their best selves.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In our sessions, we'll use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and challenge any negative thought patterns that might be causing you distress. Together, we'll work on changing those thoughts and developing practical strategies to improve your emotional well-being and handle life's challenges more effectively.

Humanistic

In our sessions, I'll use a humanistic approach to help you explore and understand your own unique experiences and emotions. My goal is to create a supportive and non-judgmental space where you can fully express yourself and work towards personal growth, self-acceptance, and a deeper connection with your true self.

Trauma-Focused CBT

In our sessions, I use Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to help you process and make sense of the trauma you've experienced. We'll work together to address and reframe the distressing thoughts and emotions associated with the trauma, while also developing practical coping skills to manage symptoms and foster healing.

Compassion Focused

In our sessions, I use Compassion-Focused Therapy to help you build a sense of self-compassion and address any self-criticism or shame you're experiencing. We'll work together to develop a kinder, more supportive inner dialogue and cultivate feelings of warmth and understanding towards yourself, which can enhance your emotional resilience and overall well-being.

Multicultural

In our sessions, I use a multicultural approach to ensure that therapy is sensitive to and respectful of your unique cultural background and identity. By integrating your cultural values and experiences into our work, I aim to create a more inclusive and supportive environment that acknowledges and honors the diverse aspects of who you are.
