Hello and welcome! I'm Rosa Sutton, an EdD, MS, LPCMH who wants to help you help yourself. Are you struggling with some of life's little and not-so-little transitions? Has your past kept you from moving forward and feeling stuck? Do you find adulting is just hard to figure out sometimes and that life can get you feeling anxious, on-edge, or down? Are you finding it hard to be kind to yourself? I empower emerging, young or young-at-heart adults to manage their anxieties about daily life, work through their past traumas and help them to keep moving forward. Together, we identify what's working for you and what's not, so you're not stuck anymore. I integrate a person-centered, trauma-focused, mindfulness-based approach to help you emerge into the person you want to become. Whether you're dealing with moving on from trauma, cycles of anxiety and depression, burnout, transitioning to adulthood, relationship issues or self-discovery, I'm here to help. Adulting is hard, finding a therapist shouldn't be. Isn't it time to be kind to yourself?

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

After our first sesssion, you may experience a broad range of emotions. You may have questions and reflections and a new sense of awareness. This is 100% natural. Coming to therapy can be a life-changing decision for many people and as you begin that journey, it's natural to feel a variety of emotions. However, as we embark together, we'll work on goal-setting, developing customized coping skills just for your individual journey, processing those emotions, and resolving the past to help you move forward in a supportive, safe environment. Your progress will be regularly assessed, with the ultimate goal for you to become self-sufficient. We will work on building your resilience, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving skills, so you can handle life's challenges independently.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I specialize in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. EMDR is a psychotherapy approach designed for alleviating the distress associated with traumatic memories. It helps clients process these memories and develop more adaptive coping mechanisms. CBT is a form of talk therapy that helps clients understand the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It aims to help you identify and change negative thought patterns that are causing emotional distress or unhealthy behavior. SFBT is a goal-oriented therapy that focuses on solutions rather than problems. It emphasizes the client's strengths and resources to create a positive change.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I bring a deep sense of empathy and compassion to my practice. My approach is non-judgmental and supportive, ensuring you feel heard, understood, and valued in our therapeutic relationship. I have a profound understanding of the unique challenges faced by emerging young adults, including identity exploration, academic and career pressures, relationship issues, and the quest for autonomy and purpose and how trauma can impair growth. I am committed to utilizing evidence-based therapeutic methods, ensuring that the strategies and interventions used have been proven effective in treating various mental health conditions. I adopt a holistic approach, considering all aspects of your life, including emotional, mental, social, and physical well-being.
