Hi, I'm a licensed professional counselor supervisor practicing in Texas. I earned my masters degree from University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX and have been practicing for 28 years. I earned my Master of Arts degree in psychology from University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. I have lived and traveled in Europe and have a good understanding of a variety of cultures. My lifetime experiences provide insight into military life, parenting, serious health issues, and grief and loss. My career has taken many turns allowing me to work with issues including cancer, loss, foster care, adoption, and adjustment to change. I am widowed and understand and identify transition and end of life issues. I enjoy spending time outdoors and with my pets, family and friends. Spirituality is an integral part of my life and I express this influence through playing piano and organ.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I will help you realize that you are not alone, and I will walk with you through your struggle to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and emotions. I provide a safe and secure environment in which you can gain insight into how your life experiences impact your relationships and your sense of self. My therapy dog generally joins us in our sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I use an interpersonal and emotionally focused approach to provide person-centered counseling. I facilitate the therapeutic process with acceptance, empowerment and a sense of humor.

My treatment methods

Interpersonal

Interpersonal psychotherapy is a brief, attachment-focused psychotherapy that centers on resolving interpersonal problems and symptomatic recovery. It is an empirically supported treatment that follows a highly structured and time-limited approach and is intended to be completed within 12–16 weeks.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I will help you understand the role of emotion in psychotherapeutic change and explore the meanings and contributions of emotion to your human experience. I will lead you toward strategies that allow strengthening the self, regulating affect, and creating new meaning in your life.
