As a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in the field of psychiatry, I am dedicated to delivering holistic, person-centered care that addresses the unique needs of individuals from all backgrounds. I obtained my Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in psychiatric mental health, from Wilkes University. Since earning my board certification, I have worked in outpatient care environments as well as partial hospitalization programs, where I have developed expertise in managing a broad spectrum of psychiatric conditions.
During the first session, we collect detailed history and current symptoms as well as stressors that could be triggering or contributing to presenting symptoms. This helps in developing individualized plans and measurable goals for the client. The progress of goals are monitored during subsequent follow up sessions. If medication management is indicated, prescriptions will be called into pharmacy as prescribed.
Active listening and empathy are important attributes. Most of mental health has to do with subjective assessment and being able to listen and understand what a client is trying to convey, translates to individualized treatment plans with measurable and realistic goals.
I love to work with clients who want to be active participants in their own care. Working collaboratively to develop and implement the best client centered care.
In my practice, I would use supportive therapy as a foundation for building a trusting relationship with clients. It can be especially effective for individuals dealing with chronic stress, mild to moderate depression, anxiety, or those who may not be ready for more intensive therapeutic work. The approach is adaptable and can be integrated into other forms of therapy depending on the client's needs.
