Hi, I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia. I received my Masters degree in Social Work form Catholic University in Washington, D.C. I have ben a practicing clinician for more than 15 years. I enjoy working with clients who struggle with and are challenged by their moods and anxiety. They want the better part of themselves to come forward but need encouragement and guidance to achieve their goals.
During our first session, we will introduce ourselves and discuss the challenges which motivated you to schedule this session. Understanding your expectations and goals allows me to support you in developing a path to achieve your goals. Follow up sessions will be offered at the frequency and time which mutually works best for us.
Working with clients whose struggles seem insurmountable is an area I feel confident that I can play a role in achieving their personal growth goals. Building trust, understanding, and patience helps me to encourage clients to attempt the hard work of change.
I enjoy working with clients of all ages who struggle with their life choices. Often when they begin to describe their challenges , they are unaware of just how overwhelming their situation truly has become. Once we explore the options for change, they can then select the path for change that best suits them. Helping clients navigate their strategies for change is very rewarding.

Exploring a client's thoughts, feelings, and actions helps me understand how best to help clients move forward with their personal growth goals. I have counseled many clients who reported overwhelming stress and anxiety about their situations. Expressing their feelings and thoughts has helped them engage in moving forward. Then they can learn new coping skills and practice new communication skills to talk about their concerns. Small changes can lead to big rewards with decreasing anxiety and stress.
I have counseled many couples on the verge of divorce or separation. Using a safe place to discuss difficult issues which might have been hidden for years., helps couples engage in discussions about the changes they want to achieve for a more fulfilling relationship. I have worked with couples who felt at the end of their rope. They wanted a change but could not see an alternative to their unhappy relationship. I helped many couples see their resilience so they could share their frustrations with their partner . A safe place to talk about their secrets is key to receiving the emotional support they deserve.
Relationships within your family play an important part of who you want to become. I have used family systems therapy for years and find the families benefit from open and honest communication with even the youngest member of a family. Some clients report they don't feel valued within their family. Yet they are expected to meet their family's expectations for financial and/or caregiving responsibilities. Conflicts and disagreements arise without resolution. Utilizing family therapy can provide an opportunity for all members of the family to be genuinely heard.
