Hello, my name is Angela and I am a LCSW based in California. I received a Masters in Social Work from the University of Washington in 2017. I began practicing however, after earning a Masters in Forensic Psychology in 2006. I primarily work with individuals who have experienced challenges in life which have resulted in difficulty with family, friends, employers, drugs/alcohol or the law.
In our first session, we will start by getting to know each other, followed by finding out what is most important to you. We will find a direction and some specifics you are comfortable with and make a plan that we can follow through with in future sessions.
Throughout my career I have found that my clients always have strengths, however they are often not fully utilized. By uncovering these unique strengths together, we are able to create and pursue a plan that will get them where they want to go. Through the use of existing strengths as well as new skills and strategies, my clients are able to navigate their often complicated lives in a healthier and more successful way. The results can be seen in improved mental health, better relationships and overall life success.
While we all experience challenges in life, some of us experience more others. I find fulfillment working with individuals who experiences more than their fair share of obstacles. My clients often have complex histories that may include traumatic experiences, mental health concerns or substance abuse. Together we can sort through those challenges and find a way forward to get my clients in control of their lives again.
Angela Linsenmeyer-Acklin offers therapy covered by CalViva Health (Medi-Cal), Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Community Health Plan of Imperial Valley (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Health Net (Medi-Cal), Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal, L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
I have used this while working with individuals who are incarcerated, re-entering society, individuals who are medically hospitalized, psychiatrically hospitalized, and in the community.
I do not believe any given perspective is perfect for anyone. Therefore while I rely in CBT most often, I also use what is best for each client as individuals.
I have provided solution focused brief treatment to individuals who have struggled with live changes and adjustments.
I have provided group therapy in community substance abuse treatment, to those who are incarcerated and in psychiatric hospitals. I believe that a good facilitator can help group members share and learn from each other more than they ever would with an individual counselor alone.
