Hi there, my name is Kim. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas. I provide psychotherapy to individuals who find themselves in the midst of struggling with their mental or emotional health. I have 8 years of experience in the social work field and over 3 years in providing therapy. My experience is diverse as I have worked in private practice, in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings and in long term outpatient treatment for a local mental health agency in the past. In those settings I have continued to fine tune my skills as a clinician to best serve my clients in finding relief from their symptoms and ultimately learn skills that allow my clients to thrive.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

First and foremost, you can expect validation of the recent experiences of yours that have led you to seek treatment. You and I will collaborate in creating a plan of action to address your needs while going at your own pace. We will initially review what areas you would like to improve and we will identify ways this can be achieved through our work together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider are being compassionate, empathic and transparent. As a therapist, I am comfortable being able to hold space of non-judgement for individuals who have had a repeated history of being invalidated by those closest to them. Most importantly, I am helpful to my clients in assisting them to identify their own strengths which can be used to work towards the treatment goals set early on in treatment. The feedback I continue to receive, as well as the progress that I have observed repeatedly with individuals I have worked with is what continues to fuel my appreciation for the work I do.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I will use EMDR in our sessions to help you process trauma in a way that is more advanced than talk therapy. It includes bilateral stimulation and resourcing which I am more than happy to elaborate on.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I will use cognitive behavioral therapy to help you treat your symptoms of anxiety and/or depression by exploring the thoughts leading to increased feelings of distress. Together, with CBT, we can identify alternative helpful thoughts to relieve some of the symptoms as well as identify increasingly helpful coping skills.
