I am a licensed MFT who has been working in private practice for 13 years. In addition to my private practice, I work full time in school-based mental health. I specialize in helping adolescents/teenagers as well as people of any age in crisis. Another focus of my practice is providing supervision to associate therapists who are working on their hours towards licensure.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I like to spend the first session learning about your specific challenges and getting to know you. It is important that you get some immediate relief, so please complete your forms prior to your appointment so we can prioritize helping you feel better. You should also feel comfortable with me. If I am a good fit for you, we can decide what to focus on and how to move forward as we continue to work together. Please note that I will discontinue treatment/refer to another therapist after two late cancellations (less than 24 hours) or "no shows" to appointments.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have extensive experience helping people in crisis and discussing difficult topics, as well as working with teenagers as they navigate changing relationships. I do not "beat around the bush" as they say; I tend to be more direct. I also have a good sense of humor.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I will listen and support you without judgement. If you have doubts, worries, or dark thoughts, you can share them with me in a safe and respectful enviornment. If you are not sure what you need, but you want to feel better, we will work together to figure out what that means. We will start working from where you are, clarify what is not working for you, and move towards creating a more positive and satisfying life experience for you.

Psychodynamic

Past experiences and relationships can impact your thoughts and patterns of behavior. They can also set up relationship patterns that you think of as normal. It can be useful to look at how past events may be influencing your current mental and emotional health.

Psychoeducation

Sometimes I find it helpful to provide information to clients for them to consider. I only do this as needed, and only in small quantities. I prefer to do more listening than talking.
