In our first session I will gather some history and ask questions. I often combine the intake with starting some therapy depending on time and where the patient is. I usually like to give some tools to help to the next session. The first session is about getting to know each other
I feel my strength is making my clients feel comfortable sharing some very private experiences....we can all get depressed, anxious and overwhelmed, yet we can all overcome these feelings and can even use these perceived " weaknesses " to our advantage. It can take some guidance ...which I hope to share with you on your own terms.
I love working with those who may feel misunderstood with their moods and relationships and those individuals who are working through life changes. Those that are care takers and the elderly are also a population I cherish working with.
Through various settings and diverse patients I developed a relationship with psychodynamic theories. I use different approaches in session based on where someone is or the direction the session is going
In my training and personal quest for continued knowledge and understanding I found explaining and relaying whats happening can be beneficial. I often share what I've learned or working on when it's suitable.

Sometimes a priority issue needs a solution and often found collaboration and brainstorming can help find that soulition in therapy. Often this can open up to other areas or, sometimes it's all thats needed.
I learned about this theory in graduate training yet found it helpful in many settings where I gained more experience. Person centered can help in validation of ones experiences.
