EVENING/NIGHT and SATURDAY appointments available!! I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) and a Registered Nurse (RN) in North Carolina. I work virtually through HIPPAA compliant platforms and believe therapy is grounded in the relationship between Therapist and Client. I have over 15 years of experience and believe your Mental Health is just as-if not more- important as your physical health. I strive to help clients adapt to stressors that come with everyday life. I assist clients in setting and achieving goals by helping them understand what drives their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and implementing changes as needed.
In our first session, we'll start with brief introductions, review intake/assessment paperwork then dive into specific challenges you would like to discuss. This will help me a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I have worked with individuals struggling with severe mental illness, substance use/alcohol use disorders in both Outpatient and Inpatient settings, College/University students, prison/probation clients and the healthcare system (assisted living/nursing homes/rehab settings) as both a Therapist and a Registered Nurse. I work with clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I can listen, validate your concerns, and offer encouragement, new perspectives and insight to help you move forward. I intend to do everything I can to facilitate you achieving your goals.
Adults (18+) with depression, anxiety, mood swings, grief, adjustment issues (college, relationship issues, life goals, seperation/divorce, aging care/loss of parent, etc), trauma, PTSD, occupational stress, sex/relationship issues
I use CBT tools such as cognitive reconstruction, cognitive journaling and relaxation techniques to recognize and transform distorted thinking patterns.
The goal of ACT is not elimination of difficult feelings but to be present with what life brings and to move toward valued behavior.
