Hello! I’m Dr. Robin Akdeniz. I am here to listen and to hear you, to explore your understanding of what is troubling you, or getting in your way, with care, compassion, respect, and without judgment. Whether it is something you experience within yourself or with a partner, at work or school, with friends or with family members, we will work together to co-create ways to help you move forward toward solutions. With my education and experience as both a licensed clinical social worker and a licensed marriage and family therapist, I work from a systemic and relational lens. Seeing you in this way brings the issue into the relational space between you and your issue, or you and another person, or you and another system (work, school, etc.). Considering each person's uniqueness, the approach to working with you will be designed specifically to meet your needs and desires within your context. Our sessions can be individual or with others, depending on what is most useful in the moment. My solution-oriented approach incorporates mindfulness and utilizes your unique gifts, strengths, resources, resiliencies, special qualities, and talents to open space for possibilities to emerge so we can co-construct your desired future. I invite you to contact me for a consultation, for talk therapy, and/or for hypnotherapy.
In our first session together, we will introduce ourselves and I will answer any questions you might have regarding my approach to therapy, the structure of therapy and of sessions, and anything else you might be curious about. We will identify what specifically you would like to address in therapy and establish what is most important to you in the moment, so we can develop a treatment plan that speaks to your concerns as you prioritize them.
My biggest strengths are my calm easy nature, my ability to empathize and actively listen, my keen interest in identifying behaviors in context, observing interactional patterns that are no longer serving you and developing newer healthier ones, and my systemic-oriented relational perspective. I see clients across all stages of the lifespan; from adolescents to older adults.
From adolescents through older adults, individual clients, couples, and families.
This approach is practical, present and future-focused, and hopeful. It helps clients consider possibilities, building on their strengths and skills that they possess to move forward.
