Hi. I am a licensed psychologist who was trained at New York University. I am licensed in New Jersey and in New York. I have worked for over 25 years in different capacities within the field of psychology. I enjoy working with people who are at the crossroads of decision making regarding their careers, relationships and who are experiencing a need to to explore more about their self-esteem and the gratification or non-gratification they derive fro interpersonal exchanges.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session you may find me asking questions about your current crisis or need. You will also hear my statements regarding cancellation policy, and most importantly privacy policy. I will summarize our conversation so that we can both decide what we will focus on initially, establishing diagnosis and our initial treatment goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have been able to work with young adults in a self-affirming manner. Helping them identify the underlying causes of their current issues (i.e., relationship problems, anxiety, depression) has been a hallmark of my clinical work. Helping clients articulate their hopes, dreams and fears has been one of my guidelines in treatment.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

This approach affords the client with insights on his/her relational style as the relationship with the therapist evolves. It has helped trace the root cause of current difficulties in client's relationships with significant others, their process of grief and loss if it is at the crux of their presenting problem.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral psychotherapy has been extremely helpful in treating clients with anxiety and depression. It provides the tools to help client engage in cognitive re-structuring while coping with anxiety. This approach facilitates offering coping techniques and strategies.

Interpersonal

This approach seems to work well with the Adult and senior clients who are seeking to deal with their life events of loss, termination of relationships and ruptures in their relationships with significant others. It helps them see the therapist as a similar other who has navigated his/her own interpersonal events while holding on to their intrinsic values and feeling grounded.
