Hello, I'm Daniel, and I am a behavioral therapist specializing in treating insomnia, anxiety, and depression. If you find yourself stuck in a pattern of poor sleep, in cycles of anxiety or depression, or simply feeling stuck in a rut in life, I'm here to help you overcome these challenges. With a deep grounding in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), my approach combines practical strategies found in CBT with a focus on fostering acceptance, mindfulness, and personal growth. By integrating cognitive behavioral techniques and ACT principles, we can work together to manage symptoms, build resilience, and empower you to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life. I have served a diverse range of populations over 11 years as a licensed clinical social worker, in community mental health, hospital clinic, and private practice settings. I've been trained in multiple evidence-based modalities, some trauma-focused, many CBT-based, and I especially resonate with the principles found in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Additionally, I have extensive training and experience in behavioral sleep therapy--treating individuals with insomnia, circadian rhythm issues, nightmares, and other sleep disorders. If you're here because you're tired of the struggle you've been stuck in and could use some help -- welcome. I'm looking forward to hearing your story and working together with you on your goals in therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Before we get started with the intake session, I typically reach out to offer a free 15-minute consultation, during which we can discuss your goals for therapy, scheduling logistics, and any questions you may have. I will also have you complete a questionnaire to help guide our intake session. A few other details: • My availability is limited to evenings and weekends at this time. • I accept telehealth clients in California and Illinois. • All sessions are conducted via HIPAA-compliant Zoom video calls.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Because each individual’s journey is unique, I believe that therapy is most effective when it is tailored to the client’s needs and goals instead of a one-size-fits-all approach. Therefore, I consider it vital to cultivate a strong therapeutic connection, as well as to work collaboratively on the treatment plan. I draw from the numerous interventions and modalities I have been trained in over the years, and consider myself primarily a cognitive-behavioral therapist with an emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as a bit of Internal Family Systems sprinkled in there. For behavioral sleep therapy, I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), as well as ACT for Insomnia (ACT-I), Brief Behavioral Treatment of Insomnia (BBTI), and Mindfulness Based Therapy for Insomnia (MBTI).

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As an experienced therapist who has worked with many different populations, one of my strengths is building rapport and helping people feel heard. Clients often describe me as easy to talk to and a good listener, which helps create a safe and supportive environment for open exploration. I especially like to hone in on the client's strengths and resiliencies in order to help them engage those parts when dealing with their challenges. Finally, I enjoy diving into the science behind psychological processes and behavior change, which clients find valuable as part of our therapeutic work together. I will also talk endlessly about sleep science if given the chance :)
