I have 25 plus years combined experience working within a medical system, academic system, as well as in private practice. I have extensive training in Mindfulness, Neuropsychotherapy, Insight Dialogue, Mind Body Connections therapy, Interpersonal Presence, and Sustainable Compassion Training to promote resilience. I am very good at recognizing gifts and strengths in others, even for those who may have temporarily lost sight of their own strength and wisdom. My role is collaborative and respects the pace and preferences of clients. For clients who are interested I offered customized guided exercises designed to turn down the internal alarm response, and turn on the restorative relaxation response. These include exercises to cultivate awareness, positive imagery, progressive muscle relaxation, and compassionate re-appraisal. Recorded guided exercises can be made available for practice in between sessions.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the initial session, I will conduct a brief assessment and seek to clarify your priorities, preferences and desired pace, as well as answer any questions you have. This will also be an opportunity for us to decide together if we seem like a good fit to work together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe inherantly in the resilience of the human spirit, and understand that it is often through our greatest challenges that we uncover our greatest strengths and gifts.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am passionate about supporting clients to promote self-compassion, self-esteem, and self-empowerment in pursuit of their identified goals.

My treatment methods

Compassion Focused

Many people find it easy to respond to the suffering of others with compassion and grace and yet it is a struggle to apply this same response for themselves. Decades of research demonstrate that shame is not an effective motivator for healing and growth. The good news is It is possible train and strengthen ones ability to activate the compassion network within the brain which is associated with improved mood, improved physical health and improved relationship with self and others. I offer customized strategized to cultivate sustainable compassion based on client's preferences, goals and pace. For interested clients, a recording of customized guided exercises can be made available for practice in between sessions.

Eclectic

I have extensive training in Neuropsychotherapy, Insight Dialogue, Mind and Body Connection, Interpersonal Presence and Interpersonal Mindfulness as well as Compassion Cultivation to promote resilience. Many people don't realize there are two branches to the human Autonomic Nervous System, (ANS), one branch is to help us manage stress and one branch is designed to help us recover from stress. The problem in today's world, is that we often get stuck in the branch of our nervous system designed to manage stress which is associated with an increase in symptoms of anxiety, depression, insomnia and a host of physical health problems. The good news is there are many effective strategies to engage the branch of our nervous system designed to help our bodies recover from stress and repair and restore our health.
