Hi! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 7 years of experience including my training as a graduate student from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. I enjoy working with clients on their specific needs and ensure that their treatment goals are focused on learning how to thrive independently! I believe that all clients deserve care catered specifically to their reasons for seeking treatment rather than using the same model of therapy for all clients. I find this has yielded the most success as clients can confidently complete therapy with skills they feel work for them that they have learned throughout the therapeutic process.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will go over a bit of your background and history just for me to get to know you, your interests, your strengths, and of course how to address what you are coming to therapy for. I ensure a confidential and comfortable space as I am always humbled by clients being willing to be open and honest with me and share with me what may be very vulnerable to open up about.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I think one of my greatest strengths as a provider that I have often been told by clients is that I ensure that clients can feel like they are in a safe space, while also being challenged to confront the difficult aspects in their life. Although I want to see my clients feel comfortable, I value the importance of stepping out of the comfort zone by challenging clients to become empowered by their discomfort.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

In order to work with clients who have experienced trauma, I believe it is important to have an understanding of how the brain and body are affected by trauma. I have received several trainings to be able to work with clients who have experienced trauma and have been humbled by those willing to open up to me about these challenging moments in their lives, at their own pace and comfortability to do so. I work with clients on learning the impact trauma has on an individual or family and how to regulate the brain and the body after experiencing trauma. It is important for clients to learn the possibilities to work through trauma and the responses people may experience because of a traumatic event.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I tend to use CBT in combination with other therapy models as CBT helps individuals learn how to improve their mindset, thoughts, behaviors, and responses as the focus of treatment is on creating goals for making positive adjustments to the ways you think and act.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I enjoy using solution focused treatment to help clients shift their perspective to what is working in their life, to identify their strengths and positive traits that may currently be overshadowed by negative thoughts, and to identify moments where the presenting problem is not present in their life.

Psychoeducation

I utilize psychoeducation to help clients understand various topics depending on their reasons for coming to treatment. This includes but is not limited to understanding how trauma affects us, how our brains and bodies can be affected by experiences, what depression and anxiety look like, how to communicate effectively, and more.
