My initial training as a therapist was in premarital and marriage counseling, a vital part of my practice that I continue to enjoy to this day. I have approximately 20 years of experience and am licensed as a counselor and supervisor of interns. In addition to counseling couples and trauma survivors, I also work with persons coming out of the sex industry. I have experience working with major depressive disorders, bipolar I & II, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders, and personality disorders. I am well-versed and extremely comfortable working with people of different cultures. I utilize a trauma-informed, person-centered, psychodynamic approach in therapy and often incorporate CBT, DBT and mindfulness techniques. I am a certified revisioning practitioner, a technique that simulates re-attachment for grief resolution and ego-integration. My certification through the FBI National Academy in resiliency allows me to train local police departments throughout the Metroplex in critical incident and mental health orientation trainings. I truly consider it an honor and a privilege to partner with you in your journey towards wholeness. No one should live a life full of shame, rejection, regret, or guilt. I strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment where you can explore and live your life in the renewed freedoms you are intended to have, with fullness and in joy. There is a plan and a purpose for your life, full of unique strengths and talents. My goal is to help you become all that you were created to be. Together we will access your own inner wisdom in moving towards your true identity.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

You are a vital part of the counseling process. Therefore, you can expect this process to be collaborative. Some clients simply need coaching, others need that deeper level process of exploring family of origin issues along with a more psychodynamic approach. When trauma is involved, I will incorporate Revisioning which is a rapid treatment of grief and trauma using the mirror neuron network. We will also look for any psychosomatic responses. Together will will check for any cognitive distortions and other dysfunctional ways of coping, correct and eliminate them with healthier self-talk, utilize skills for improved self-regulation and establish a strong self care routine.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to correct faulty cognitions and negative self-talk. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to improve self-regulation. Revisioning for unresolved grief and trauma.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

It is my passion to work with persons who have struggled with severe trauma and may have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. It is important to restore one's sense of identity when trauma has been involved, a process that I very much enjoy. I also enjoy couples and marriage counseling, and will look for any glitches within the unit that may have caused breakdowns with communication. It is not uncommon for me to work with persons who have been diagnosed with MDD and Bipolar I & II. I have a strong background and enjoy working with persons of different cultures.
