Hello, I'm Bernard, I am a licensed therapist that has experience working with teens 13-17 and young adults 18-22 seeking relief from anxiety, depression, and life transitions in sessions (I do not currently take clients under the age of "12" or over the age of 23 years old for virtual therapy), I like to walk with my clients through their therapeutic journey’s no matter the difficulty. I am client centered maintaining the philosophy that every client no matter their age is the expert at their existence and has the ability to heal. I utilize humor, when appropriate to strengthen therapeutic bonds to understand them as a person and to walk with them to their own solutions pertaining to their challenges. I specialize in working with teens and young adults through difficulties with daily life challenges such as interpersonal relationships, family conflicts, life transitions, intimate partner challenges, and academic and career-related stress. I use a humanistic approach to my therapeutic style to explore what works best for clients. Some of the basic orientations I utilize are Mindfulness, Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy techniques. The therapy journey helps individuals understand thoughts, feelings, reactions, and responses, aiding with healing and growth. This can lead to a life that feels more grounded, joyful, and meaningful. I have been working as a therapist for over 10 years. I have experience working as an intensive outpatient therapist providing individual therapy, group therapy, and case management. I have experience working with children, teens, and their families as an Elementary, Middle, and High School special education and general education therapist. I have worked with individuals from various walks of life, various spiritual beliefs, gender orientations, and a variety of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session together, we will start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you may be facing. This will assist me with the creation of a tailored plan for us to work with in the following sessions and will help with the start of building the therapeutic bond.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I tend to follow what tools may work in the moment for my clients. I have utilized motivational interviewing, humanistic, narrative, art, and process to name a few.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

my greatest strength is sitting with my clients supporting them through their various lived experiences.
