I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who has practiced for over 7 years. I received my MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles. During my training and internships, I worked with a diverse group of clients including teens, young adults, older adults (65+), parents, couples and families. My experience includes treating clients that struggle with depression, anxiety, substance use, LGBTQIA+ issues, aging, family conflicts and life transitions. I help clients gain an understanding of themselves and their situations in order to live more fulfilling lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Typically in a first session, I spend time reviewing the therapeutic process and a client's history of treatment. I invite clients to ask questions and we discuss expectations and concerns they may have about the process. Then we talk about the reasons client is seeking treatment and collaborate on a plan that will help alleviate symptoms and provide a better understanding of client's situation.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I’m genuinely curious about my clients’ lives and experiences. Through my own life struggles, I understand the courage it takes to share my deepest thoughts and feelings with a stranger. I believe in my clients’ capacity for change and growth. With compassion and empathy, I offer a non-judgmental space in which to talk about and process these thoughts and feelings. In session, I focus on client’s past and present, as well as their personal strengths, resilience and willingness to grow.

My treatment methods

Humanistic

I approach my clients with unconditional positive regard and accept them for who they are at that moment in session. I listen to my clients' experiences, then reflect and affirm their perspectives to validate their experience and feelings. I utilize a holistic approach to therapy and help clients find meaning in their lives.

Psychodynamic

I started my training in Psychodynamic treatment in 2016. I invite clients to talk about their past to understand how they learned how to communicate, relate to others and cope with stressors. Together we sit with feelings in session in a safe environment, processing what thoughts and feelings come up in the present moment.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness exercises such as meditation, breathing and grounding techniques can help calm an overactive mind, lighten mood and improve self-esteem. I teach my clients how to use these techniques to bring awareness to the mind/body connection.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is used to educate my clients on the connections between thoughts, feelings and behaviors in order to help them manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, etc. CBT can be very structured with homework. However, I prefer a less structured approach and primarily teach thought reframing and redirecting to help alleviate problematic symptoms using these tools in session.
