Greetings! My name is Courtney Snow. I am an art psychotherapist with credentials as a Registered, Board Certified Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor. I have worked extensively with children, adolescents, adults and families within behavioral health agencies, community outreach programs, educational settings, residential and outpatient programs. I am experienced in treating individuals who have substance use disorders, developmental disorders, thought disorders, complex trauma, emotional disturbances, unresolved grief, and relationship issues. Through an integrative, humanistic approach, I will utilize a creative modalities through art materials to assist you towards connecting to your feelings and needs, release emotional distress, increase insight and awareness which can promote healing and resiliency. Artmaking is a nonverbal, universal language that has the power to speak with imagery and can transform maladaptive thinking. Art is a deeply personalized form of self-expression and it can increase the awareness of self, identify intrapersonal worth and purpose, increase coping, and find meaning in one’s life. One does not require artistic experience to enjoy this practice and each art-based directive is empathically tailored to your needs. If art therapy is not for your--that's okay! I am also trained in other talk-therapy modalities as a trauma-informed, DBT-informed, and mindfulness clinician.
In order to develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs, we will review the areas of your life that need the most support. This will be accomplished by reflecting on your life history and lived experiences.
I also use creative expression for healing in my life. It has helped me express emotions and gain insight in ways which I could not articulate verbally. I love to use co-regulation and interactive art exercises as ways to to get to know the people I treat, as well as build our relationship together.
I am grateful for the opportunity to provide support to individuals who are brave enough to be vulnerable in therapy. Sharing emotional and distressing experiences in a secure environment is an immense accomplishment, and it requires courage and curiosity. I love and respect the commitment and trust that my clients place in me and their willingness to verbalize their challenges. I'm moved by the inspiration I find in someone's determination to heal their emotional injuries, transform their suffering, and face this pain with affection. With the support of a therapist, clients can manage a difficult journey much more easily. I admire my clients for not facing it alone.
Humanistic art therapy views individuals holistically, considering their emotions, experiences, and potential for growth, rather than focusing solely on pathology or symptoms.
