I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in North Carolina and have a Master of Science in Human Development from Virginia Tech. I have a background working with various ages including children aged 7+ to pre-teens, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. I have experience working with various issues, including communication, conflict, depression, anxiety, anger management, self-esteem, emotional regulation, ADHD, relational problems, family issues, and phase of life concerns.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session gives us both an opportunity to exchange information about the specific challenges you’re facing, background information and goals for therapy, as well as giving you more information on my style and how I structure therapy. I like to be transparent about what to expect and answer any questions you might have regarding the process. Follow-up sessions will be aimed at exploring specific concerns in greater depth to better understand where they stem from and what will be helpful in managing these challenges.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I take a collaborative approach with my patients because you are the expert in your own life and know yourself best. I provide support while you discover more about yourself, recognize your strengths, and empower yourself to overcome challenges.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

This is a type of positive counseling that focuses on your internal strengths and setting a positive mindset. I work collaboratively with my patients to identify their strengths and focus on building their best qualities to improve resilience and personal growth.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT focuses on the importance of how our thought patterns impact how we feel and what we do. I work with patients to identify underlying irrational thoughts patterns that cause negative feelings and behaviors, and work collaboratively to challenge these negative thoughts and the feelings and behaviors that flow form them.

Family Therapy

I help families understand that they function as a system, and support each person in understanding their role that contributes to the family dynamic. Even in individual therapy, I take the various systems a person experiences into consideration and look at how the parts of the system affect one another and the whole.
