I am licensed in Hawai'i, Arizona, and Washington DC with over 30 years of professional work experience. I've been highly effective in helping clients with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, motivation, self-esteem, and confidence, & coping with life changes. I believe you are the expert of your story and you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
I have learned a great deal over the past 30 years about what in general works well with clients new to therapy as well as those who have experienced a special relationship with a professional counselor. The first session is largely hearing and learning what the client needs and wants from therapy. It involves gathering the relevant history and information and building a safe and trusting place with no judgment. I am working to make sure I can be of service to the client and get the foundation of what the client's goals are for counseling.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I've heard from client testimonials and my clients my greatest strengths are in providing a safe enough environment where the client feels comfortable enough to share their feelings and thoughts but also able to have their thoughts challenged and explored knowing it is with the highest intent of assisting the client in their struggles and challenges.
Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.
I have been successful in serving all ages throughout the past 30 years. With the advent of telehealth, I have found I'm most successful in working with elders and adults who are finding themselves in a situation that is overwhelming their current coping skills and strategies. Sharing uncomfortable thoughts with a partner or loved ones can create a new stress and processing all the information and attempts at improving the relationship may not be successful without a supportive and experienced professional with a great deal of experience. Whether it be about deciding to stay together, pursuing divorce, or even changes in the health or mental health of a life partner, I am in a position to serve and assist in problem-solving, coping, and making potentially life-changing decisions.
