Hi! I'm Jenny and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering telehealth therapy to folks in California. I currently have one slot open for bi-weekly sessions on Wednesdays at 5:15 PM. Once you book an intake with me, I will reach out for a free consultation call to see if we would be a good fit to work together. I'm queer, a parent, and a first-generation American. I had a long career in social service, social justice, and non-profit leadership and management work when I made the transition to social work and therapy. I spent years working with child abuse and trauma. I worked with many families going through very difficult life moments and traveled alongside their paths as they faced issues of physical abuse, intimate partner violence, sexual abuse, and substance use. Working with both children and adults, I've interfaced with every system out there---prisons, schools, hospitals, social services, and courts. I've intimately seen what these systems offer and the challenges they create. I hope that therapy is both effective and real---authentic and truly useful. I know that finding a therapist that feels right can be daunting and challenging. The relationship between the therapist and the person seeking therapy is of central importance. I hope to create a compassionate space for you that feels safe, warm, and supportive. This should be a space where you feel seen, heard, safe, and comfortable. I want to help you create a place where you feel the comfort and strength to explore what has been scariest or hardest for you and create the change you're searching for.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will spend time getting to know you and the different aspects of your life. We will explore what has brought you to therapy at this time and what you hope to get out of therapy. I always want to go at the pace that feels most comfortable to you. It is really important that you feel safe, understood, and seen, so we will take the time it needs to create that warm space for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I strive to be real with my clients and I truly care about every person I work with. I work hard to help each person as much as I can, even if that means finding you resources or referrals. I want to truly help you with your needs. I think it is also important to note that our upbringing, experiences, relationships, and current life stressors impact our well-being and so do systemic issues. I strive to critically examine the way issues of racism, white supremacy, colonialism, fat phobia, ableism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, islamophobia, anti-semitism, and other forms of oppression impact all of us.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I integrate aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (often referred to as ACT) to help increase psychological flexibility and well-being. ACT is wonderful in that we can utilize our most essential values to contact the present moment and help us consciously make decisions that are aligned with who we are.

Attachment-based

Attachment theory is central to my practice and can help someone understand and have compassion for some of their challenges. We have all been impacted by the way we were raised, even if someone had the best of intentions. Coming to better understand our attachment styles helps us better understand ourselves, have compassion for ourselves, and know how we want to interact with the world.

Compassion Focused

I utilize aspects of mindful self compassion in my work if it resonates with you and believe it can have the power to transform some of our deepest challenges.

Humanistic

The relationship between the therapist and client is of central importance. There is great healing power in the relationship between people and the co-regulation that can happen between two humans together.

Mind-body approach

Somatic-based therapies inform my practice. If you are comfortable with it and it resonates with you, we will look at the ways we can bring the intelligence of your body into sessions and draw awareness to what is happening in our body. Understanding our nervous systems is an important key to understanding our behaviors and feelings and the ways we can change and feel better.
