Welcome! Finding the right therapist can be an intimidating process. I'm here to ensure you feel comfortable, seen, and heard. I work with adults, teens, and children. Before making the switch to mental health, I was a pediatric nurse and have worked with young people in some capacity for close to 20 years. I am a dedicated and compassionate licensed therapist with over 7 years of experience in helping individuals achieve mental wellness and personal growth.
In your first session, we will focus on rapport building where my goal is to create a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions, and gain insights to current struggles. I believe in the strength and resilience of every individual and am committed to supporting your journey towards healing and self-discovery.
As a mental health provider I feel my greatest strength is empathy. The ability to understand and share the feelings of another person is crucial for building a strong therapeutic relationship. I am often told that people/clients feel comfortable around me, which is something I hold dear. Some additional strengths I feel I possess that help me provide effective and compassionate care to my clients are; Active Listening: I aim to hear and understand what my clients are saying, both verbally and non-verbally. Patience: My goal is to allow every client to process and express their thoughts and feelings at their own pace, as everyone is different. Cultural Competence: I am aware of and sensitive to the cultural backgrounds and unique experiences of each client and am cognizant of the fact that culture plays a huge role in who a person is and what their path of healing will look like. Non-judgmental Attitude: Creating a safe space space where clients feel accepted and understood. I believe it is impossible to truly work through life's struggles when one feels like they are being judged.
While my expertise lies in individual and family therapy, I also have experience in leading adult anger management and alcohol and drug groups for over 2 years prior to working with children and adolescence. Additionally, I have worked with children in foster care and in the adoption process. I have vast experience in a wide range of issues, including but not limited to; anxiety, depression, anger management, trauma, improvement of interfamilial relationships, and self-esteem. While I love to work with children, due to previous experience, I typically do not offer virtual services to children under the age of 8. I am happy to discuss possible in person options if your child is within driving distance.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My overall therapeutic approach is holistic; incorporating cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, and solution-focused strategies to empower my clients to overcome challenges and live more fulfilling lives. I believe it is of utmost importance to focus on the person as a whole.
