Welcome to my profile! My name is Vanessa and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I graduated from Cal State Long Beach in 2007 with my Masters Degree in Social Work. I have experience helping clients during difficult times in their life. Seeking therapy for the first time can be scary. However, my hope is that therapy is a safe space to build a relationship that allows you to discover the tools you already have to improve your life and add a few more skills to your tool belt.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will get to know each other a bit and explore what brought you to therapy. We will review what you hope to gain from the experience and identify the main focus of therapy. This will help guide our future sessions and allow the healing process to take place.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with people who have experienced deep loss, I have learned that we often heal by telling our story. In therapy, you will be able to share your story to a non-judgmental listening ear who fully accepts where you are in life and where you would like to be.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We all experience thoughts and feelings that can get in the way of our greatest potential. With the use of a cognitive behavioral approach, we will explore the limited beliefs that interfere with your daily life. You will learn how to recognize triggers to help you gain control over your thoughts and feelings to help you enjoy life again. We'll develop a plan together to help you learn coping skills and strategies to improve your mood and minimize your symptoms.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I believe in getting to know my clients and building a healthy relationship. I use warmth, kindness, and genuineness to create a safe environment which allows the therapeutic process to unfold. In my experience, I have found that safety and a non-judgmental approach promote change and inner healing.
