If you're not feeling quite like yourself and are looking for a safe space to tackle stress, trauma, or navigate life's twists and turns, you've come to the right place. Whether it's coping with change, navigating relationships, tackling depression or anxiety, dealing with trauma or grief, or improving self-esteem, I'm here to help. I'm a seasoned therapist and I approach therapy as more than just a quick fix. Sure, I can share some effective techniques for immediate relief, but the real aim is lasting change. Recognizing that the road ahead might involve some tough work, my role is to provide a comfortable and supportive space, making the journey a bit smoother for you. I wholeheartedly stand by your side, motivating you to tackle the challenging work while also playing the role of your biggest cheerleader. Let's work on helping you become your most authentic self. I typically work with individuals aged 16-40(ish). Populations I am particularly focused on are: - Young adults exploring post-college life and career goals - Mid-career professionals feeling stuck or wanting to develop confidence and leadership skills - College and grad students; High school juniors and seniors managing social and academic stress - Individuals wanting to improve their relationship with their loved ones - unlearning patterns from previous relationships - Empty nesters looking to write their next chapter - LEOs and Veterans - Trans folx considering gender-affirming surgery I am licensed to provide therapy in Indiana, Maine, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Washington, and West Virginia. Cost should not be a deterrent to accessing quality care. When possible, I encourage clients to use their insurance to help pay for services. I understand that not everyone has Mental Health insurance coverage and I am committed to making therapy affordable for those who pay out of pocket. I offer a limited number of sliding scale therapy slots based on financial need. Choosing the right therapist is an important decision. Book a free, 15-minute introductory call before scheduling an intake session so we are both sure the connection is a good fit. Learn more at www.SunriseLCSW.com.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

We'll have a quick consult call to make sure we're a good fit before scheduling our first session. During our initial session, we'll focus on creating a relaxed atmosphere while we get to know each other. I'll invite you to share your story, goals, and any challenges you're facing. Together, we'll outline a plan and discuss how we'll work through these challenges in our future sessions. By the session's end, I aim for you to feel understood, with a clear sense of our collaborative approach moving forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist and leadership coach, I love working with people as they navigate their journey of self-discovery. It's an honor to be able to support people through their growth experiences. I love the process of growth and learning that therapy offers. Laughter is great medicine and I value the healing qualities of relationships, nature, and creativity.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy helps us understand the hidden reasons behind your thoughts, feelings, and actions. We explore past experiences and how they might be affecting you today. By talking through things in a safe and supportive environment, we uncover patterns that may be holding you back. This helps you gain insights and make positive changes in your life. It's like shining a light on the parts of your mind that you might not be aware of, so you can live a happier, more fulfilling life.

Trauma-Focused CBT

TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) helps people who have been through tough experiences, like traumas or difficult events. We work together to understand how these experiences affect your thoughts, feelings, and actions. We'll learn practical skills to cope with tough emotions and thoughts. We'll also talk about what happened in a safe and supportive way, so you can heal. A TF-CBT framework gives you tools and a safe space to work through tough experiences, so you can feel better and move forward in your life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) helps you understand and change the way you think and behave. We work together to identify patterns of thinking that might be causing you distress or holding you back. Then, we find practical strategies to shift those patterns. It's like learning new mental habits, so you can tackle challenges with a clearer and more positive mindset. We also focus on practical steps you can take in your everyday life to feel better and reach your goals. It's about making lasting changes for a happier and healthier you.

Gender-affirming therapy

I am certified in Affirmative Therapy for Transgender Populations and able to provide letters in support of gender-affirming surgery for my active clients. The ultimate goal is to create an environment where individuals can explore their gender identity, alleviate distress, and confidently live authentically. Gender Affirming Therapy is a supportive, affirming approach designed to help individuals explore and affirm their gender identity. Tailored to the unique needs of transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals, this therapy fosters self-acceptance while aiding in navigating gender-related challenges. Sessions often involve discussions about gender dysphoria, social transitioning, hormone therapy, and surgical options. Additionally, this therapy offers a safe space to address communication strategies with family and significant others regarding identity, pronouns, and other important experiences, assisting individuals in navigating these conversations and fostering understanding and support from their loved ones.

Grief Therapy

Grief work requires a caring and understanding space where we talk about the pain and emotions that come with losing someone or something important to you. I'm here to help you navigate through these feelings and find ways to heal. We'll talk openly about your memories, thoughts, and any struggles you're facing. I'll offer practical advice and support to help you cope with the grief. It's like having a trusted companion on this journey, someone who can help you process your emotions and find a path forward, even when it feels really hard. Additionally, I have experience supporting individuals who have lost loved ones to suicide, understanding the complex layers of this experience and offering specific guidance and compassion tailored to this unique grief. Together, we'll work towards finding a sense of peace and acceptance.
