My name is Dr. Alden Bush, and I am a bilingual, board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I hold a doctorate from Columbia University and have extensive experience working with adults facing various mental health issues. Some of the areas I have worked intensively in include adult ADHD, trauma, depression, anxiety, and insomnia. I strongly believe in evidence-based practice and in prescribing in a manner that empowers patients. Additionally, I support precision care and may sometimes recommend pharmacogenetic testing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

If you seek an ADHD evaluation, this will involve gathering important information before your initial appointment and during your comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. Please expect a total of ~120 minutes to have a proper assessment. This can be done as a 2-hour visit or broken up into two separate visits. STEP 1: - Baseline evaluation of your symptoms. - Collect collateral information from a parent or caregiver to assess symptoms of ADHD in childhood. - Collect collateral information from a partner or loved one to discuss current behaviors. STEP 2: - Comprehensive clinical assessment. - Holistic ADHD evaluation through a specialized interview. STEP 3: - Discuss treatment options and prognosis, and address any questions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a strong supporter of the combined efficacy of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy for symptom relief. I recommend to all of my patients to find a dedicated therapist while receiving my medication management services. I strive to incorporate supportive therapy during medication management appointments to ensure that my patients are receiving holistic and well-rounded psychiatric care.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

As of this moment, however, I treat ADHD exclusively. Not taking new patients through Grow Therapy.

My treatment methods

Positive Psychology

I strongly believe that patient-centered care involves creating an environment where individuals feel empowered and guided to recognize and appreciate the positive traits they possess, capitalizing on these to improve their mental health.

Eclectic

I consider myself to be an eclectic user of psychotherapeutic modalities. Although I am exclusively a medication manager, I frequently incorporate concepts of supportive psychotherapy. My practice is based on supportive psychotherapy, but I also provide medication management. I believe in partnering with patients and acknowledging their uniqueness. I frequently incorporate concepts of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, and Motivational Interviewing in my toolbox.
