Hi I am Kristie L. Griffin, LCSW, an eight-year, honorably discharged Army Active-Duty Veteran. I have over fifteen years of working directly with individuals who have experienced substance abuse, traumatic brain injury & chronic mental illness. I possess the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience to provide comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, mental health treatment plans, and counseling services to individuals, families, and groups. Most of my experience always included case management. My social work experience and training have equipped me to comply with many treatment protocols, perform advanced treatment care planning (Nursing Home Placements), and serve as a cohesive member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. I am also experienced in assessing and responding to patients who are identified as high- risk and may have urgent or acute care needs. As a clinical social worker, I am responsible for educating (and connecting) clients to the available resources and interventions. Referrals are made beyond the scope of social work practice. Ethics and beneficence are primary for the Social Work Profession. I have a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree (Specialization: Military Families) in Social Work from Troy University. In addition, I have one and a half years left of qualitative research remaining toward a Doctoral Degree in Social Work (Clinical Expertise) from Walden University (Graduation Fall 2026). My doctoral training has prepared me to learn and adapt to various roles. My leadership training has allowed me to master/refine and define professional and technical knowledge of clinical theories, ethical principles/practices, and evidenced-based modalities/ treatment plans as clinically indicated for adults and children. I am dynamic because I can work well in any environment!
Most of my experience includes working with Veterans who identify behaviors that they want to change such as drug use or overeating. We also work together to identify personal coping skills and learn new ways to cope with difficult situations. Effective decision-making, building relationships, mood improvement, fostering relationships & stress management (i.e. meditation) are also incorporated to help you live your best life! As a Veteran who works with Veterans translation of the military culture is not a barrier. For our mental, social, and psychological well-being needs it is important to be understood & to have someone to talk to whom you can trust. Trust is a gradual process that is built through consistent positive interactions over time. As your clinician, I will listen and understand. I will ask questions as needed and defer judgment. I will share personal experiences when required to build trust and create a safe and inclusive environment for you. Building trust creates psychological safety. Together we will promote overall social functioning & foster positive relationships and outcomes.
My greatest strengths as a provider are I'm tenacious and will advocate for you!
